From flamingoes to mermaids socks, Jimmy Lion’s in-house designers create unique patterns that you wouldn’t find elsewhere! These socks are manufactured in Portugal using premium quality combed cotton. This process removes the short and breakable cotton fibres leaving only the finest and strongest yarns.

While most of the socks out there are produced with 96-168 needle machines, at Jimmy Lion they knit their socks using 200-needles. As the number of needles rises, the socks become softer, denser and more durable.

This new sock brand is knocking, shall we say kicking hard on the fashion industry doors. One year old and growing exponentially. We’ve talked to the founders Álvaro and Felipe, two spaniards now based in the Big Apple and they told us about the vision for their baby Jimmy Lion.

• Why did you guys come up with Jimmy Lion as the name for your sock company?

We find Jimmy Lion to be a very catchy name as well as a good mood booster. It is important that the name is easy to remember and that it fits to the brand image you want to show. The lion represents the character and strength we want to mirror onto our designs. Here in the U.S.A. it worked right away, people liked it and it triggered curiosity in them.

• How come being both of you from Spain, you’ve decided to establish your headquarters in NY?

NY is Jimmy Lion’s home, it all started while we were studying here in New York so we decided to stay. On top of that, this concrete jungle is the epicentre of fashion and by being here we get inspiration from its energy, colours and drive. We anyways have another base in Madrid since 2016.

• What would you do if you see your girlfriends cheating on you with socks from another brand?

Lol! That would be impossible as we’re both single!

• Have you thought of starting with underwear as well?

First we want to release some new sock designs and varieties but we might think about that option once we’re better established in the actual markets.

• What’s your favourite pair of socks?

Probably the flamingos one! It was one of our first designs and still today one of our best sellers!

• And last but not least, do you think smartness starts at your feet?

Socks are mysterious as they’re hidden most of the time. You just get to see them when a person walks or crosses legs when sitting and it is in these kind of situations in which socks can play their surprise effect. Socks have been left behind for a long time in men fashion, but since not too long they are peu à peu being synonym for distinction and elegance. Socks are a great way for man to express their personality.

In order to test how good these socks really were we went ahead and ordered one of the custom packs they offer in their website and the results couldn’t be better! After having a sock party at our office we decided to take these beauties for a walk. They feel good, they are soft and extra comfy but we couldn’t wait to get our shoes off again so we could actually see the rad designs covering our feet. Jimmy Lion, you nailed it!!
